Maida - 1 glass
Corn flour - 1 tbsp
Salt - to taste
water - 1 1/4 glass
Oil - 2 tbsp, to grease on top of each sheet
MASALA FOR SPRING ROLL AND SAMOSA
Hi, today let’s see how to make pastry sheets at home..
Pastry sheets are used to make samosas, spring rolls etc and are usually store bought.. but with the simple trick that I’m going to show you in this video, you can easily make these at home.
I will also show how to make samosas and spring rolls using this sheet.
To make the batter, in a large mixing bowl mix together a glass of plain flour, a tablespoon of cornflour and enough salt to taste..
Into the bowl, I have added 1 ¼ glass of water and mixed it into a thin and creamy mixture without any lumps in it,
Leave the batter to rest for sometime while we prepare the pan to make the sheets
Nonstick pans are the best to make these..
To prepare the pan, boil some water in a vessel and place the pan on top of the vessel in which the water is boiling.
I am going to spread the batter on the pan using a paint brush as shown in the video. You can also use the brush used to make cake or you can even use a sponge that has no colour on it.
When the pan heats up, dip the brush in the batter and brush the batter inside the pan as shown in the video, in quick motions, in a thin layer..
When it starts to separate from the sides of the pan, remove it from the pan and our pastry sheets are ready!!
Remove the sheets onto a plate and grease it with some oil on top and keep it closed all the time, else it might go dry..
Next, we shall prepare a masala to fill inside the spring roll and Samosas..
To prepare the masala, heat some oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds
When the mustard seeds pop, add finely chopped onion ginger and green chilli..
Next, add boiled and mashed potatoes, salt to taste and garam masala to taste and mix well

To prepare the Samosa, take out a sheet and cut its edges to make it tidy and cut it in half
After cutting the Pastry sheet, place a small amount of the prepared masala on one side of the sheet, to the bottom of the sheet and fold it to make a Samosa as shown in the video at 10:53
To stick the pastry, use a thick paste prepared with plain flour and water
To prepare a spring roll, shape the prepared masala into a small cylindrical shape and place the masala towards the bottom of one sheet and fold it from both the sides and roll it up as shown in the video and stick the other end to the role using some paste
The samosas and spring rolls are now ready to be fried in oil
After frying in oil, they’ll come out crispy and tasty!!
You can store the pastry sheets in the refrigerator for up to a month..
